Rs. 9 lakh in cash seized from man arrested in theft case

Mangaluru, Aug 14,2017: The Mangaluru North Police, with assistance from the Goa Railway Police, on Aug 12, Saturday arrested 41-year-old Jaseem Uddain alias Jasmuddin Lasker, a native of Assam, for alleged theft of Rs. 9.25 lakh in cash from a shop on Bibi Alabi Road here.

Shop owner Ismail on August 11 filed a complaint with the Mangaluru North Police about the theft. He suspected that Jasmuddin Lasker, who worked in his shop, could be involved in it.

On a tip-off that the accused was on a train going towards Goa, the Mangaluru North Police alerted the Goa Railway Police in Madgaon, who arrested him.

The police recovered Rs. 9 lakh in cash from the accused. The accused had purchased a mobile phone for Rs. 25,000.

The police said that the accused was produced before a local magistrate in Madgaon and was brought to the city on Sunday. The police are questioning him.
