Puttur, July 13, 2013: The State budget presented on July 12, Friday has allotted Rs 5 crores for the development of Padumale in Puttur taluk, the birth place of Tulunadu folk legends Koti Chennaya, thereby fulfilling a longstanding demand.

It is a fact that the birth place of these folk legends who are worshipped even now and are admired as inspiring personalities not only by Tuluvas but people of the entire district, has remained undeveloped for want of funds all these years.

The  Padumale Koti-Chennaya Aithihasika Kshetra Samvardhana Pratishtana which was formed last year had vowed to work for the development of the place and had been appealing to the government to release funds.

In Padumale, one can still see Ballalara Beedu , the house of Deyi Baidethi, mother of Koti Chennaya, house of Sayana Baidya, the uncle of Koti Chennaya, Nyaya Chavadi of Padumale Ballal and several other  places of historical significance. One can also catch a glimpse of wells of ancient times in the village.
