Bengaluru, Apr 17, 2015: The Madhyama Academy Awards for the year 2014 were presented at a glittering ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the Vidhana Saudha on April 16, Thursday evening.
As many as 34 eminent journalists from the state including Rons Bantwal, a journalist in Mumbai having his roots in Bantwal of DK district and Astro Mohan, a photo journalist from Udupi associated with Udayavani received the awards from State Law Minister TB Jayachandra in the absence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who was earlier scheduled to grace the occasion.
The Andolan Award 2014 given by the Madhyama Academy to the best district level newspaper was conferred on “Vani” from Raichur, while the Abhimani 2014 Award given for an article highlighting social problem was conferred on Siddalinga Swami of Vijay Karnataka. The Mysore Digantha Award 2014 for the best human interest story was given to Shridhar of Loka Dhwani from Sirsi.
P.C, Mohan, MP, K Govinda Raju, HM Revanna, MLCs. Dr N Nagambika Devi, Principal Secretary of Information Department, NR Vishukumar, Director of Information and Public Relations Department, and MA Ponnappa, President of Madhyama Academy were present among others.
