Udupi, Feb 5, 2014: Two strangers who knocked at the doors of a house at Mulur near Kaup on February 5, Wednesday on the pretext of seeking donations for a Madarasa, robbed a woman of her gold jewellery and cash.
It has been learnt that the strangers followed the woman as soon as she went in to get some cash to be given to them, rendered her unconscious after placing a cloth soaked in chloroform near her nose. They then escaped with jewellery weighing four and a half sovereigns and a cash of Rs 6000.
Sophia was all alone in the house belonging to her relative Faizal Ibrahim who stays in Dubai. Faizal’s wife along with her children was away at her father’s house when the incident took place.
When Faizal’s wife returned home she found Sophia lying unconscious on the floor. The robbery case came to light when she regained consciousness.
Finger print experts and dog squad have been pressed into service. Kaup police have registered a case.
