Rising mercury levels: DC enlists measures to safeguard health of students

Mangaluru, Mar 06, 2023: In view of the mercury levels rising in the coastal district, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner  M R Ravi Kumar has asked all heads of educational institutions to take special care and precautions in order to safeguard the health of students residing in hostels.

All hostel students must be provided pure drinking water that is boiled and cooled. The kitchen of hostels must be kept clean and the cooking staff must maintain hygience. The  health check-up of the cooking staff mut be done once in six months. The water supplied to hostels must be subject to lab test every month. Washrooms and toilets of the  hostels must be kept clean, the DC has said in his instructions.

In the event of ill-health of any student, then he or she must be provided suitable treatment after consulting health officers and Health Department, the DC has said.
