Rising crime against women : Like-minded organisations hold Candle-light protest

Mangaluru, Oct 12, 2020:   Members of various like-minded organisations organised a candle-light protest near the Ladyhill Circle in the city on October 11, Sunday to protest against the Hathras case and the  several cases of crime against women reported from various parts of the nation.

Prof Narendra Nayak, President of the Federation of Rationalists’ Association  said the  Hathras case and the government’s behaviour in the aftermath of the incident was condemnable. He also recalled the Sowjanya case in Dakshina Kannada and also several other cases and said everyone needs to protest against such incidents.

Social activist Vidya Dinaker who too was part of the protest said it was  alarming to note the rising cases of atrocities on women and children in the nation. She said Sunday’s protest was symbolic to lodge protest against the alarming trend.
