Mangalore, Jan 10, 2014: The recent Deralakatte forced sex case is a crime and the right-wing groups must not try to communalize and politicize it, said rationalist Narendra Nayak and advocate Asha Nayak.

Speaking at the press meet held at his residence on Jan 10, Friday, Narendra Nayak said that the right wing women’s outfit, who organized a mass protest rally in city on Thursday claiming inefficiency of the police department and political pressure in the Derlakatte case are just trying to communalize the crime for the political electoral gains.

He also said that crime was done by an organized anti-social gang; hence no colour of political exploitation must be given to it. The outfits are making an attempt to communalize the case, who were nowhere in the picture when the events happened, which is extremely condemnable.

Nayak also said that the outfits have alleged that the male victim in the case has been involved with the accused since they belong to same community, whereas the male victim had undergone physical and mental trauma by the kidnappers, he added.

If the male victim was involved with the gang, they would reveal it during interrogation. The victims had even given the statement before the police and judicial magistrate about the incident. But later he had to be hospitalized since he was physically injured, he said.

Asha Nayak said that female victim had been very concerned about the male victim till he was rescued, since his hand was fractured and was badly bruised.

She also said that police cannot be blamed in the case, since they had taken action against the accused immediately and arrested them on the same day.

The police officials must not be blamed since they were with the victims from the first day and there were no political pressure at all. Since it was a sensitive case, we did not tell it to public, but communalise the issue is not tolerable, she added.
