Residents evacuated after tanker carrying LPG turns turtle in Uppinangady

Uppinangady, Dec 2, 2018: Few residents of Bedrodi near Uppinangady were evacuated from their homes by Fire brigade officials, after a tanker carrying LPG met with an accident and turned turtle, causing gas leakage.

The incident occurred near Bedrodi hanging bridge in Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway in Uppinangady.

The Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) container was carrying LPG, and was headed from Mangaluru to Bengaluru when incident occurred, around 1.50 am on Sunday.

Soon after the incident locals were asked to move to safer places. Rescue vehicle and fire extinguishers were deployed to contain the leakage. The entire road from Periyashanti towards old gate road was blocked for vehicles throughout the operation, as a preventive measure.


This is the third incident in the past two weeks.
