Mangaluru, June 24,2017: During the weekly phone-in programme on June 23, Friday, Police Commissioner T.R. Suresh said, with rising demand for more road humps in various places in the city, a feasibility study will be carried out.

t r SureshPC Suresh said new road humps will be laid only at necessary places. “We cannot lay new road humps everywhere. A feasibility study will be done before recommending new road humps and road studs,” he said.

A caller from Beja, sought a road hump on the Kodailguttu Cross Road to prevent over-speeding of vehicles. He also said there should be proper signages to indicate road humps.

A resident from Pandeshwar felt the need for a road hump near the entrance gate of Forum Fiza Mall in Pandeshwar. It can often be seen vehicles moving in the worng direction taking shortcuts which is highly dangerous for all.  PC Suresh said the police may consider having a pedestrian crossing instead of a road hump, which was already in place near Mangaluru south police station.

Road humps were called for on Kaprigudda road, Falnir, due to high frequency and speeding autos and cars from Casa Grande on wards, see picture.

A resident of Paduva highlighted the problem caused to motorists owing to parking of vehicles that dropped students to school located off the national highway. Though the institution has enough space, vehicles were not allowed inside. She also wanted police to restore the bus shelter at Paduva Circle that was removed for a proposed truck terminal.

PC  Suresh asked Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) K. Tilakchandra to look into the issue.
