Reliance cable laying works damage pipeline at Bendore

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, May 30, 2015: A water  pipeline in  a bylane close by the St Teresa’s School at Bendore was damaged during the task of installing cables by a private telecom company.

It has been gathered that the company was installing the cables using a directional boring machine when the pipeline burst.  According to a local resident, the pipeline was damaged on May 29, Friday night itself and that the workers engaged in the cable laying works had neither taken up repair nor informed the MCC authorities. He said water which began to flow from the damaged pipelines soon damaged the road. Even the interlocks are sinking due to the  continuous flow of water, he  alleged.

Here it is noteworthy that the road was re-laid just about a month ago. Locals say their pleas to local corporator Sabitha Misquith have fallen on deaf ears. Motorists were found struggling to pass through that road.

Mangaluru South MLA JR Lobo visited the spot and inspected the damage caused to the road. He said he has already intimated the MCC Commissioner of the matter and has requested her to  initiate action against the Reliance Company which was engaged in cable laying works.

He also stated that he has requested the Commissioner not to permit Reliance to take up digging works for cable laying anywhere else until this issue was resolved.

MCC Engineer Arun has visited the spot and assured to replace the clamp of the pipeline which was damaged during cable laying works.
