Mangaluru, Oct 24, 2019: A Red Alert has been issued for Dakshina Kannada district by the Indian Meteorological Department and the Karnataka State Natural Calamity Monitoring Centre in the wake of the formation of a depression in the Arabian Sea. Kerala, coastal Karnataka and Malnad regions are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next two days.
The public have been asked to be cautious while fishermen have been warned against venturing into the sea.
Several areas of Dakshina Kannada as well as Kasargod districts have been experiencing incessant showers since morning.
The pandal put up outside a school at Paivalike in Kasargod where counting of votes for Manjeshwar Assembly bye-polls was underway, collapsed due to heavy rains and strong winds.
