Belthangady, Dec 22, 2016: Renowned Kannada writer KT Gatti was conferred the Kannada Rajyotsava Award by Umashree State Minister for Culture, Women and Child Welfare at the writer’s residence in Ujire on December 21, Wedesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said Gatti is known for his simple writings which are easily understandable to the lay man. Being experimental is also important for a writer, she added.
Speaking after receiving the award, Gatti said he was not after awards and felicitations and feels the appreciation by readers was his greatest gift. He also stated that his keenness to learn and read had made him a writer.
KT Krishnamurthi, Principal of SDM PU College, Balavantha Rao Patil, Joint Director of Kannada and Culture Department and others were present .
