Rajani is Mangalore TP Chief ; Prakash elected Vice President

 Mangalore, June 6, 2014 :  The elections for the posts of Taluk Panchayat President and Vice President were held at the TP meeting hall on June 6, Friday. If Rajani of the Congress party was elected unopposed as the President of the Taluk Panchayat, while Prakash Yedapadavu of BJP was elected the Vice President.

 

The post of TP Chief was reserved for a SC candidate and the BJP had chosen not to field anyone.  However, the election for the post of Vice President saw two candidates  namely Prakash Hosabettu of Congress and Prakash Yedapadavu of the BJP. If the BJP candidate secured 19 votes, the Congress candidate had to be content with 17 votes .

The BJP has a 32 member strength in the ZP. Of them 31 were present while 19 Congress members were present and one member had abstained.

Dr Prashanth, Assistant Commissioner was the election officer.

State Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader who was present, congratulated he newly elected Taluk Panchayat President and Vice President.
