Mangaluru, Sep 16, 2015 : Rain, which started late on Sept 14, Monday pounded coastal areas. Ponds and tanks overflowed submerging roads and affecting movement of vehicles. Rain water gushed into houses and shops also.  Heavy rains continued to lash Bhatkal and the North Karnataka districts.  A person was injured after lightning struck him.

Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts received moderate rainfall.  Heavy rains in Uppinangady did not dampen the spirits of protesters during the highway bandh organised by the Netravathi Nadi Tiruvu Yojane Virodhi Horata Samithi and other organisations.

In Mangaluru, the sky remained overcast through the day and good rains lashed the city and surrounding areas intermittently and  in the evening. In the last 24 hours, Dakshina Kannada district received 26.4 mm rainfall.

Rains lashed Udupi on Monday night. The taluk experienced 63.2 mm, Kundapura 69.9 mm and Karkala 65.2 mm rainfall.
