A farmer was washed away in the swollen Malaprabha river in Bagalkot district while an elderly woman was buried alive after her house collapsed. Wall collapse claimed two more lives — that of a woman in Davangere taluk and a 40-year-old man in Ganjigere village of KR Pet taluk of Mandya district.

A farmer in Haveri district committed suicide after he lost his onion crop to the deluge. Hasagal village of Koppal district recorded another casualty after a boy drowned in a tank. A man is suspected to have been washed away in rainwater in Holehonnur of Shivamogga district.

The Kampli-Gangavathi bridge is under water, snapping road connectivity to Bidar, Kalaburagi, Raichur and many places in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. People are advised to take heed and be prepared for any eventuality.
