Puttur: ZP Chief booked for allegedly threatening lady doctor

Puttur, July 03, 2019: A case has been filed against Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat President Meenakshi Shantigodu at the Women’s Police Station here in connection with the recent incident wherein in the ZP Chief allegedly threatened a paediatrician named Dr Archana who was on duty at the Government Hospital.
It is stated that the ZP Chief who visited the hospital and enquired about a girl being treated there was upset with the doctor concerned when the latter refused to divulge information regarding the patient which was sought by the ZP Chief. It is said this infuriated the ZP Chief who reportedly obstructed the doctor from perfuming her duty. Sources said when the ZP Chief took the doctor to task, the incident was recorded and the same was subsequently uploaded on social sites.
The lady doctor who was reportedly harassed by the ZP Chief had lodged a complaint following which a case was registered under Karnataka Prohibition of Violence against Medicare Service Personnel and Damage to Property in Medicare Service Institutions Act, 2009.
