Puttur: Srivara Jewellers fraud: Owner’s son arrested in Kushalnagar

Puttur, July 29,2015:  The Puttur police have managed to arrest Srivara jewellers owner Balakrishna Bhat’s son  Varadesh in connection with the case of fraud  wherein  customers who enrolled as members for gold scheme were cheated to the tune of  nearly Rs 3 crores. The arrest was made at  Kushalnagar in Kodagu district.

Two special teams led by Abdul Khader SI and Mahesh Prasad, Inspector had been formed to nab the father and son duo who had not only closed down Srivara Jewellers which had branches in Puttur, Bantwal,Sullia and Madikeri, but had also vacated their house in Sullia.

The cops had kept a close watch on the calls  made from their cell phones and thus managed to track down Varadesh at Kushalnagar.

It has been gathered that the police who had found the cell phone numbers of the two however had no clue regarding their whereabouts as the phones had remained switched off for nearly two weeks.

The police are now hopeful of tracking down Balakrishna Bhat, now that his son is in their custody. Varadesh is expected to be produced before the court and the cops are likely to seek his police custody.
