Navya (24), daughter of Lakshmana Naika   had  silently slipped from her home  when all family members were asleep after the Mehendi ceremony  of the previous night. Her marriage  was scheduled to be held at Shivakripa Hall of Parpunja near Kumbra on February 26. But the bride was  missing the same day. Her family had fixed her marriage with Vinod, son of Narayana Naika of Velgarikand Rajapuram  village.

It has now been gathered that Navya  had eloped with her lover Naveen of Kalmadka in Sullia taluk, who also happens to be a distant relative. The two had  later tied the knot.
