Puttur: Lightning kills 2 including 13 year boy

Puttur, May 2, 2014: Two persons met a tragic end in a lightning strike  at Chennavara Patla in Paltadi village on May 1, Thursday evening.

The deceased are Janardhana Gowda (42), a tree cutting contractor and Jithesh (13), son of Monappa Gowda and a student of Sandeepani School, Narimogaru.

The lightning struck the two when they along with others were returning  home after  tree felling works on a newly purchased land by Jithesh’s father Monappa Gowda. Though the two were rushed to the hospital immediately, their lives could not be saved.

If Janardhana Gowda is survived by his wife, a daughter and two sons, Jithesh has left behind his parents and sister.

This is the third incident of lightning strike in Kadaba of Puttur. Earlier, Guruva of Kochakatte and Purandara had met a tragic end. In all four persons have died in lightning strike in the taluk.

Ironically, both Janardhana Gowda as well as Jithesh’s father had newly purchased land in Chennavara Patla. Janardhana was an autorickshaw driver as well as a tree cutter.
