Mangaluru, June 09, 2017: Police have arrested the driver of a lorry who was responsible for a hit and run case reported from Pumpwell on May 29 which claimed the lives of two youth.
The arrested person is Gopalakrishna (28) from Nekkilady in Puttur. The arrest was made on June 9, Friday.
It may be recalled here that two youth Ronald (28) and Jackson D’Souza (21), both cousins who were on a bike had lost their lives in the accident.
The lorry bearing registration number KL-4- D 6678 was identified by the police who checked the CCTV footages from the toll gates at Talapady, Hejamady and NIT-K.
The mishap had taken place when the lorry was heading towards Kochi from Maharashtra. It is said the vehicle was on the wrong side resulting in the mishap.
Traffic East Inspector Suresh Kumar, Assistant Inspector Praveen Kumar, Head constables Sanjeev, Tasleem and Yashwanth were instrumental in cracking the case.
