Mangalore, Feb 25: A new Pulse Polio Programme for children under the age of 5 was announced at a press meet held at the District Health and Family Welfare office.
The programme will be held on Feb 27, Sunday in a bid to eradicate polio among small children. District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. Shrirangappa has urged all parents to bring their children to the centre to receive polio drops.
Warning that construction workers coming from UP and Bihar often bring such diseases, Dr. Shrirangappa said that one has to be careful about such diseases.
There are 9 centres all over DK and its 5 taluks and 1.71 lakh children in the age group of 0 – 5 years. There will be 921 vaccine sub centers and 20 transit points, he said and added that trained medical staff will be present during the administration of the polio drops.
