Honnavar, Dec 14 2017 DH: Prohibitory orders (under section 144 IPC) have been clamped for 24 hours for the whole of Honnavar taluk according to Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner M N Manjunath.
The orders are in force from 11 am on Thursday to 11 am on Friday. As per law in force, congregation of more than five people in public is an offence.
The orders have been imposed in order to maintain peace said the AC and requested people of the town on the highway to cooperate.
The orders don’t apply to public vehicles, the AC clarified.
’Jail bharo’ campaign
Union Minister Ananth Kumar Hedge said that the BJP would launch a ’jail bharo’ campaign across the state from December 19, protesting ’state government-sponsored violence’.
Talking to reporters, Hegde said the campaign would begin in Uttara Kannada district and would be held in each taluk of the district daily.
Condemns attack on school girl
Ananth Kumar Hegde also condemned the knife attack on a school girl Kavya by two miscreants on a motorbike.
The incident occurred on Thursday in Honnavar. Police said that the miscreants injured Kavya’s hands and sped away.
Kavya was on her way to the Kodlagadde government high school. She is a ninth standard student.
