Prof. Sancheti announces major changes in AIEEE counseling

Mangalore, June 14: Online counseling for All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) will be held from June 11 to June 23. Prof. Sandeep Sancheti, the director of NIT-K Suratkal, told reporters that the headquarters of the Central Counseling Board (CCB), which counsels students and allots seats for engineering/technology and architecture/planning courses at NITs, IITs, centrally financed, and self financed institutions within India is at NIT-K Suratkal. 


Announcing certain changes in the counseling process this year, the director said that special provisions have been made to correct wrong entries made by candidates regarding category and state of eligibility, which is the place where the candidate took the qualifying exam. He also said that choice filling and counseling has been improved this year, adding that candidates can do the choice filling from June 11 to June 23 and the choices can be locked from June 18 to June 23.

Provisions have been made for withdrawing old choices and filling new choices during the fourth and fifth rounds of allotment. A spot round has also been included this year, and candidates can register for spot rounds from Aug 11 to Aug 13. Choice filling of vacant seats and seats offered by self-financing institutions can be done from Aug 11 to Aug 13.


Prof. Sancheti also said that more reporting and help centres have been set up for the convenience of candidates to cater to the requirements of a large number of students and parents, who have been making enquires. He added that the centre receives an average of 600 mails per day. 


The CCB website, www.ccb.nic.in, has a talking tutorial (PPT), video registration, choice filling, and locking, which are available in English as well as Hindi to help aspiring students. Other changes made this year are electronic fee repayment and refund, improved AIEEE score card and leaflet to all potential candidates, and others. 


Stating that candidates usually lose their passwords or admission cards during counseling, he said that the CCB is considering a number of ways to tackle this problem.
