Mangaluru, Jan 07, 2020:  The Police have launched an investigation into the reports of intrusion and violation of the no-fly zone of the MRPL.

Police sources state that the security guards on night duty had reported sighting drone-like objects operating in the zone a couple of days ago.

“Although the MRPL has not submitted complaints about the objects, the police have decided to investigate the matter,” sources in the MRPL mentioned.

Police are checking if it was drones that had made the intrution.

“A drone cannot be operated beyond a radius of four kilometres. Besides, a drone cannot capture images at night. The police are aware that the oil units in the Gulf were destroyed in drone attacks and have launched an in-depth investigation,” the sources stressed.

The Central Industrial Security Force has directed its men, entrusted with the security of refinery, to neutralize such drones, they added.
