Prashanth Bhandary, President of the Sangha  has strongly suspected this to be a case of Love Jihad. He also  suspected that the  accused Hyder might have  lured Priyanka into escaping with him along with her jewels. He further claimed that  Priyanka would not have taken the jewels along if the two were really in love. He even  claimed that the letter purportedly  written by Priyanka which had reached her home, was actually not written by her.
