Mangalore, June 11, 2013 : There are reports that a National Investigation Agency Team has arrived in Mangalore following information that one Ibrahim, a suspected Indian Mujahedeen man and an accused in last year’s Hyderabad bomb blast case has a passport with a fake residential address in Mangalore. It is said the passport was issued three years ago, i.e 2010.
It is learnt, the NIA team has collected the photo and address of Ibrahim from the police passport division. Even the police constable who verified the passport is being enquired, say reports.
Ibrahim is named prime accused in the Hyderabad blast that killed 17 and injured 119. The passport issued to him in 2010 shows a residential address of Bendorewell. The matter was divulged by two persons namely Maqbul and Imran Kan who were arrested in connection with the case.
During passport verification, as per rules, the police personnel concerned has to visit the residence of the person to verify the address and the inspector has to sign the verification forms.
Kadri police inspector who was on duty when the pass port was issued, says he is unaware as to how a passport with a fake address was verified. Meanwhile, Mangalore Police Commissioner Kharbikar says it is the duty of the police to check the address given by a passport applicant. He at the same time adds there is no official information regarding the involvement of any constable in this case.
