Mangaluru, July 17, 2019: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has said that the administration was taking all possible precautionary measures to check the spread of Dengue in the district. As many as 200 teams have been formed to make a door-to-door visit, he said.
Speaking to reporters here on July 17, the DC said 352 cases of dengue fever have been reported in the district and added that 200 of them are recovering. This month more Dengue cases were reported from Gujjarakere, Jeppu in Mangaluru, Kadaba and other places.
The DC urged the people to ensure that there was no stagnation of rain water anywhere as this would reduce nearly 85% of the Dengue cases.
In June, 75 Dengue cases were reported, he informed and added that last year 200 Dengue cases were reported. The DC also sought the co-operation of the public in checking the spread of dengue.
Dengue causing mosquitoes which bite during day time fly at a lower level, he said adding mosquito nets, coconut oil and other mosquito repellent creams to prevent mosquito bites.
MCC Commissioner Mohammad Nazeer and other officials were present.
