Pratapchandra Shetty is a deserving candidate : Ramanatha Rai

Mangaluru, Dec 22, 2015 : All the developmental activities which former MP and rebel MLC candidate K Jayaprakash Hegde boasts of, have been undertaken by him through the Congress party, said DK District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Ecology and Forest  B Ramanatha Rai.

 

 

Speaking to reporters at the District Congress Office on December 22, Tuesday, Rai said  when Jayaprakash Hegde  filed his nomination as  an MLC candidate, the party had not threatened him but had requested him to step down.

Speaking about Pratapchandra Shetty, the official candidate of the Congress, Rai said "he was an able and honest candidate who deserved a ticket."

Maintaining that the Congress  was a people friendly party,  he also spoke about the several welfare programmes initiated by the erstwhile UPA government.

Ivan D’Souza, MLC who also spoke said the party would stage protest  in all panchayats in DK and Udupi districts on December 23 to condemn the  case filed against  Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald scam.

Mithun Rai, District Youth Congress President, Ibrahim Kodijal, Chairman of MUDA and others were present on the occasion.
