Mangaluru, Dec 24, 2019: Philanthropist and Mumbai-based entrepreneur K Prakash Shetty will hand over Rs 26 lakh, including Rs 1 lakh cash that he had received with the Rajyotsava Award, to implement flood-relief works.
The funds will be handed over to Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja at a programme to felicitate him, on turning 60 years old, for his social work at Goldfinch City in Kuloor on December 25.
“Shetty handed over Rs 1 crore to CM’s natural calamity relief fund and Rs 1 crore to 100 poor people and 66 students at a programme at Goldfinch City in Kuloor on December 19,” Prakashabhinandana Samithi President Suresh Shetty Gurme told reporters on Monday.
“As many as 500 workers are involved to expedite the arrangements at Goldfinch City. The celebrations will be inaugurated by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa. Politicians from all parties and spiritual leaders from different communities will be present,” he added.
Entrepreneur Aikala Harish Shetty said nearly 25,000 people, including Kannada film stars like Ravichandran, Yash, Haripriya, Arjun Janya and Roopesh Shetty are expected to attend the event.
“As per the desire of Prakash Shetty, 18 distinguished people, including Dr Amruth Someshwar, Dr B M Hegde, R N Shetty, M N Rajendra Kumar and Nagar Narayan Shenoy, will be felicitated and presented with a gold medal,” said the event’s brainchild Santosh V Shetty.
A cultural programme, including a Yakshagana play by Satish Shetty Patla, has been arranged on the occasion.
