Poor maintenance of Kadri Park disconcert visitors

Mangalore, August 9: One of the main attractions of the Mangalore city is Kadri Park. Kardi Park is the largest park within the city limits of Mangalore. It is located 3 Km away from Mangalore city. The park was attracting the visitors including foreigners with its beautiful flowers, green grass and cold winds.  This place also hosts a Flower show organized by the Horticulture Department every year.

 

A few days back, the park was in news after unearthing of pesticides, used by the farmers, dumped in a deserted well inside the park by the agriculture and horticulture department. It was a joint raid by the district administration as well as central and local ministers. But the park is once again in news for its poor maintenance. The waste papers, plastic glass, cigarette buds, broken toys fell on the green grass clearly indicates how the park is being maintained badly by the staffs of Mangalore City Corporation.

 

 

 

 

 

Now the garden is a place for Cows and dogs. The excreta of Dog and Cow dung strewed on the grass also make visitors hurl abuse on MCC officials. The park is completely neglected by the MCC said a businessman who took their children to the park last Sunday. The MCC officials are failed to keep the park clean he added.

All most all residents staying near Kadri Park visit the park every morning for morning walk and to practice exercise. But the morning walks has come to a standstill after the heavy monsoon rain. The incessant rain also succeeded in creating water-log inside the park. The water collected on the play ground are also becoming breeding rounds for mosquitoes which are not only extremely annoying, they also pose serious health risks like Malaria, dengue and other diseases. This may be preventing the morning walkers to carry out their exercise here. 

Josep, who visits park every Sunday, said that this Garden was attracting hundreds of tourists and Old age people for the morning walk and relaxation. We can view many people who come to this garden regularly for the morning walk. Today this garden is of no use its path ways is filled with water and grass. Children’s train has stopped without any reason. MCC authorities need to come out with an immediate solution, he said.
