Mangaluru, Aug 08, 2016: Reports state that former Union minister and CM B Janardhana Poojary will offer prayers and special pooja at Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple in Mangaluru on August 8 for the speedy recovery of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who was taken ill during a road show in Varanasi on August 2, was shifted to the ICU of Sir Ganga Ram hospital (SGRH) from the Army (Research and Referral) Hospital on August 3. The 69-year-old leader had accidentally fractured her arm when she collapsed during the rally and later undergone treatment.
Veteran Congress leader Poojary, who was Union minister during Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi tenures, will offer special prayers and poojas at Kudroli Temple on August 8 at 11.30am, said Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee secretary T K Sudheer.
"Poojary will offer prayers to Sri Gokarnanatha and other deities of the temple for the good health of our party president Sonia Gandhi," .
It may be recalled that Sonia Gandhi was the chief guest at the centenary celebrations of Kudroli Temple and Dasara festivities in October, 2012. In 1991, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had inaugurated the renovated temple, which was built in 1912. The temple with Lord Shiva as its presiding deity was consecrated by social reformer Sri Narayana Guru.
