Udupi, Apr 06, 2017: Reports state that ADGP (Law and Order) Alok Mohan said policing across the state would be strengthened and innovative programmes to boost policing activities will be introduced.


Alok Mohan 6 aSpeaking to reporters after a review meet here at district police office, the ADGP said that beat system will be improved with quality arrangements. Initially, few numbers of head constables and police constables were responsible for the beat system. Henceforth, the system will be changed and every police man in the jurisdiction is in-charge and responsible for the beat. The PSI will also be responsible, he explained.

Mohan said there will be nearly 40 beats and hence, more attention will be paid to the surroundings. The action will also bridge the gap between the police and the public, he opined.

The community policing will increase the rapport and the identification between the police and the public. The public in distress can contact the police in their vicinity.

The ADGP said that the public will also be indirectly involved in the beat system. The name of all the beat police will be displayed the district police website. The number of beats, number of HCs and PCs would be displayed. The policing will be people-friendly, the officer assured.

He said the police will be tough on organised crimes like prostitution, matka, gambling and sand mining. History-sheets of criminals will be opened all over the state and police will now impose Goonda Act even on the organised crimes. He said the massage parlours will also be under radar scrutiny of the police, following several complaints received regarding prostitution taking place in parlours.

He said that the police will pay frequent visits to schools and colleges. The high-ranking officers like SP, ASP, Dy SP will visit the schools and colleges. The interaction with the students would be held and they would be told about the ill-effects of drug abuse and traffic violations. They will also be encouraged to drop their grievances in the drop boxes set up across all schools and colleges.

The ADGP said the police will also take stringent action against eve-teasing. The beat constable will frequently check the drop-boxes. The complainant will be ensured that the complaint is registered free of cost and the aggrieved people can contact the higher officials online.

He said that the scientific investigation is supported and forensic examinations will be extensive.
