Mangaluru, May 30, 2017 :Reports confirm that Mangaluru city police along with the officials from PWD and mines and geology department on May 29, Monday raided several places under Bajpe police station limits where sand was being illegally stored and seized 1,300 loads of sand.

A team headed inspector T D Nagaraj conducted raids at Margadangadi, Muthoor, Kuppepadav site, Ganjimatta, Mura, Suralpadi and Kandavara and effected the seizure. The sand was stored illegally there instead of Ganjimatta stockyard.


Police officers connected with the raid said that the sand seized has been put under police guard and that officials of PWD will take further action against those guilty of permit conditions. The operation was carried out under the guidance of M Chandra Sekhar, city police chief,  Dr. K G Jagadeesha, DK DC, Moorthy, scientist, department of mines and geology, Rathnakar, PWD sub-divisional officer and village assistants of the revenue department.

The sand business is mainly concerned with the builders as they are ones who are in need of for construction....... though action will be taken on those involved but these cases won’t last for long.
