Police foil illegal cattle theft in Kundapur- one held

Kundapur: September 1, 2015: The Kundapur police on Monday arrested a youth for stealing cow from cow shed and seized Omni car and two cattle near Kundapur.



Police arrested Mohammed Haneef, however the two accused sped away from the spot.

According to the sources, the accused stole the cattle which was tied in the cow shed belonging to Manjunath Kattimani and transported in a Omni car to the slaughter house.

Manjunath who was asleep woke up when he heard the strange sound of cow and informed about the incident to the police. The police acting quickly to the complaint waylaid the car in Gujjadi junction near Gangolii and seized two cattle that were illegally transported.

The accused Haneef confessed to the crime and said that the cows were being transported to a slaughterhouse. A case has been filed in Gangolli police station.

Illegal cattle and chain snatching has become common these days. The police have to take action or appoint a special squad for search of criminals.
