Mangalore, Jun 2: The police organized a raid on the district jail on June 1, Wednesday on suspicion that some of the under trials had weapons with them. The raid was led by ACP Ravindra Gadadi.
Although the police did not find any weapons, they seized two mobile phones, one SIM card, five chargers, and four packets of ganja from a prisoner who stands accused in a murder case.
The police had seized two cell phones and two packets of ganja during a raid conducted on May 18.
In the recent raid, the police seized one SIM card, 4 packets of ganja, 5 mobile chargers, 2 nail cutters, 2 ear phones, 1 pair of scissors, and one lighter. Inspector Vinay Gaonkar and Poovappa, the PSI of Barke Police Station, also participated in this raid.
