Mangalore, April 2: The district police observed Police Flag Day with ceremonial grandeur at District Armed Reserve Police ground, Pandeshwar on Saturday, April 2.

Six contingents of the police force like Karnataka State Reserve Police, District Armed Reserve police, civil police and Traffic accompanied by the police band, celebrated Karnataka Police Flag Day, honouring all serving and retired police personnel‘s of the district.


Retired Police Sub Inspector Narayan Byndoor, the chief guest of the event, inspected the parade on police jeep.  Abhinav Khare, probationary IPS, the commander of the parade, escorted Narayan Byndoor.


Speaking on the occasion, he said that the government must fulfill all the requirements of the police personnel’s who are working hardly to maintain law and order peacefully in the state. “If the Government does its duty honestly and fulfill the necessities of the police officials and personnel the menace of corruption will disappear from the police department”, he added.


 

 

 

 

 

 


He also suggested that money collected from the sale of police flag should be utilized to meet the medical expenses of the family of retired police. He urged the senior police officials to set up a library for the officials.


Suggesting the police officials to give the friendly response to the public during their first visit to the station, help them to give more information on the various issues and this will bridge the gap between the police officials and public.


Presiding over the occasion, IGP Western Range Alok Mohan released the police flag. He said that the day is devoted to the police officials in order to respect them for their sincere service given to the society.


He also said that recalling the service of the police during their duty and even after their retirement is the responsibility of the public, which encourages the police in rendering good service in future too.


A total of 25 people including the retired police officials were felicitated during the occasion. The children of police officials, who secured the highest marks in SSLC and PUC examinations, were also awarded.


City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, welcomed the gathering. SP Labu Ram read out the annual report. DCP (crime) M Muthuraya proposed vote of thanks. S Moideen Kunni, administrative assistant of Badriya College compered the programme.
