Mangaluru, Dec 22, 2017: Complaints regarding flouting of traffic rules by private buses and parking issues poured in at the Phone-in programme of the City Police Commissioner T R Suresh held on December 22, Friday.
A caller drew the attention of the Commissioner towards the problems caused by the private buses by halting to pick up passengers despite a free left signal. The Commissioner assured to look into the problem.
Several other issues including violation of public parking spaces also came up during the phone-in.
Another caller wanted to know if Omni could be used as a commercial vehicle. To this the commissioner said it was not allowed but needs the permission of the authority concerned.
On the suggestion of a person from Urvastores to install speed breakers at Chilimbi, the Commissioner said the Department would inspect the place and install speed breakers if found necessary.
Auto drivers collecting fares which was over and above the meter fare, parking issues at SL Mathias Road and near Collector’s Gate, the menace of speaker at a temple at Jyothinagar also figured during the phone-in.
The Commissioner received as many as 30 calls during the phone-in.
