Plans to open women’s police station in Udupi : Home Minister KJ George

Udupi, June 18, 2013 : State Home Minister KJ George has said that he was contemplating setting up of an all women police station in Udupi and hold deliberations in this regard with officials concerned.

The Minister was speaking at a meeting convened at the Congress Bhavan in Udupi on June 18, Tuesday. George further stated that he had issued clear cut instructions to the police department to register any complaint lodged by the public. Pointing out that the image of the department has been tarnished due to the folly of a few, he said no such incidents will be tolerated.

Urban Development Minister Vinaykumar Sorake said there has been a systematic ploy to sow the seeds of hatred in the society and urged the people to thwart such moves. There have been several instances during the BJP rule which have made the district hang its head in shame, Sorake said and urged the police department to avert such incidents in future.

Pramod Madhwaraj, Udupi MLA , Gopal Poojari, Udupi District Congress President, Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, Manjunath Bhandary and other Congress leaders were present.
