Picnic turns tragic ; youth drowns in Kumaradhara river

Subrahmanya, Dec 14, 2017:  A 19 year old youth   who had come along with his friends  to make merry  at the Kumaradhara river banks in Mungulipade of Subrahmanya reserve forest limits, has met a watery grave.

 

SUICIDE.


The deceased has been identified as Jayaprakash, son of Ganesh of Karyatadka in Kombaru village. He had come to the place along with his friends Satish, Guruprasad, Mithun, Anil  Kumar and Praveen on Wednesday.

However, later the other youngsters had lodged a complaint at the Subrahmanya Police Station stating that  Jayaprakash who had entered the waters to have bath after having food,  has gone missing.

The Police  along with the Puttur fire service personnel rushed to the spot and began a search for the body which  the help of expert divers. The body was retrieved on Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, in a new twist to the case, Anand Mittabailu, Puttur Taluk Convenor of Dalita Sangharsha Samithi has alleged that  there was a suspicion that Jayaprakash who was in love with a young woman from another community might have been murdered. He  has also said he would lodge a police complaint in this regard.
