Mangalore, Feb 17, 2014 : A prosthetic hand with specially designed three fingers to enable the physically challenged do their daily chores with ease, was handed over to a beneficiary named Shivaram at the DC office meeting hall in the city on February 17, Monday.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel who handed over the prosthetic hand to Shivaram, said the artificial limb has been manufactured by Endolite India which is a known name in the manufacture of such products.
He said the prosthetic hand costs Rs 2.24 lakhs and that a sum of Rs 1.12 lakh has been provided to the company. He said the remaining Rs 1.12 lakh will soon be paid.
He also stressed the need to make arrangements to distribute such artificial limbs to other needy beneficiaries.
Additional DC Dayanand representatives of Endolite were also present on the occasion.
