Mangaluru, June 21,2017: Reports show that city police on June 20, Tuesday carried out a drive to book cases against vans and autorickshaws that are carrying schoolchildren far in excess of the permitted number.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) K. Tilakchandra said that the drive was carried out near Rosario Church, Lady Hill Junction and in Kulai.
As many as 30 vehicles were booked for violation of permit conditions as they were carrying more than the permitted number of schoolchildren in their vehicles. A spot fine of Rs. 1,800 was collected from the offenders.
