Udupi, Jan 19, 2014: “If the chariot of  life has to  go ahead without any obstacle, then it needs a charioteer like Lord Krishna. Absence of peace of mind can destroy  the  chariot of life.There can be peace in life only when  one worships the Lord with great devotion, said Sri Vidya Vallabha Theertha Swamiji, the new Paryaya seer of Kaniyoor mutt.

He was addressing the Paryaya Darbar held after he ascended the Sarvajna Peetha  on January 18, Saturday.

Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt, said the Darbar is meant not merely for the seers, but it is a Darbar of Lord Krishna and Madhwacharya. He recalled that Krishna in his Bhagavadgita had opposed corruption, exploitation of women and  selfishness and had described them as bane to the society.

The outgoing Paryaya seer Sri Vidya Vallabha Theertha Swamiji who also spoke said the Paryaya festivities are a symbol of sacrifice and not grandeur. There is no politics here. If there is corruption in politics, there is discipline in religious affairs, he observed.

District in-charge Minister Vinaykumar Sorake and Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade also spoke on the occasion.  Fifteen achievers in various fields were felicitated on the occasion. The Prasadam from different religions shrines were handed over to the Paryaya seer.

A Yakshagana Prasanga book ‘Madhwa Charitha’ authored by Sadananda Sharma of Sagar and published  by Yakshagana Kendra, Udupi was released on the occasion.

Udupi MP Jayaprakash Hegde, MLA Pramod Madhwaraj, former MLA Raghupathi Bhat,CMC President Yuvaraj and others were present.
