Peace March to Celebrate Gandhi Jayanthi

Hundreds of people marched from PVS Circle to Lalbagh not only to honor the Mahatma on the occasion of his birth anniversary, but also for the sake of communal peace on Friday, October 2. 

The participants of this peace march included members of the Mangalore Rotaract Club, volunteers of National Service Scheme of Mangalore University, students, teachers, and officials of Mangalore City Corporation. 

The march came to an end in Lalbagh, near the bust of Mahatma Gandhi, where the Mayor M. Shankar Bhat honored the Mahatma by garlanding the bust. 

A function was then organized in the Mangalore City Corporation office. Mr. Bhat, in his speech to the gathering, encouraged everybody to follow Gandhian principles. He said: “Gandhigiri is as strong as goondagiri.
