Mangalore, June 20, 2014: A couple hailing from Mysore were arrested on June 19, Thursday and brought to Mangalore by the Pandeshwar police in connection with the case of cheating several photographers. It is learnt, the couple had lured as many as 30 photographers and had collected nearly Rs 12 lakh from them with a promise to provide jobs in the USA.
The accused couple Rachana and Haricharan Rao hail from Saraswatipuram in Mysore. The arrests followed a court order in the wake of a petition filed by a photographer based in the city named Aravind.
It has been gathered that the couple had contacted Aravind nine months ago and also several other photographers through him stating Infosys was hiring photographers for a US project named ‘Colourworld.’ Sources said the accused had said Chief Photographer would get a pay package of Rs 4.5 lakhs while assistant photographers would get Rs 2.5 lakhs.
