Palakkad Railway Division bags three efficiency shields

Mangaluru, April 17,2017: Palakkad Division of Southern Railway has won three efficiency shields for mechanical, signal and telecommunication and cleanliness.

The shields were received by Divisional Railway Manager Naresh Lalwani and officers from the departments concerned from Southern Railway’s General Manager Vashishta Johri, during the 62nd Railway Week celebrations in Chennai recently.

A release from Palakkad Division here said that the shield for mechanical department was given in recognition of coach maintenance, improved operational punctuality, effective curbing of pests and rodents in coaches, optimum utilisation of coaches and zero en route detachment of coaches.

Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer B. Venugopal accompanied Mr. Lalwani to receive the shield.


Similarly, the Signal and Telecommunication Department of Palakkad Division was rated the best in Southern Railway in view of its increased reliability, professional approach to failure management, enhancement of reliability and safety. N. Ramachandran, Senior Divisional Signal and Telecommunication Engineer, received the shield.

The General Manager’s Award for cleanliness was accorded for maintaining cleanliness at 14 A1, A and B category stations through contracts, which includes mechanised cleaning. Chief Medical Superintendent V. Kalarani received the award.

At the Southern Railway zonal level, 25 officers, 152 staff and 2 students were honoured with “Individual Awards” and nine “Group Awards” were presented to 54 employees. Further, 33 Efficiency Shields for outstanding performance during 2016-17 in different areas of railway working were awarded to divisions/workshops/units.

The General Manager’s Inter Divisional overall Efficiency Shield was bagged by Tiruchchirappalli Division; Madurai Division was the runner-up in the same category.
