Painting expo unveils a rare culture

Udupi, Oct 21 2019: A rare and rich culture of North Karnataka was presented on canvas in the painting exhibition of artist K V Shankar at Drishti Art Gallery in Udupi.

 

The exhibition was organised by Artist Forum. The paintings, which brought out the rural scenario in North Karnataka, were based on folk theme.Thus they incorporated works on music recital, musicians and religious practices. There are also paintings on folk artistes, ‘Jogathi’ community and so on.

Artist Shankar said, “The exhibition is a kind of exchange of culture. It is an attempt to introduce North Karnataka to the people of the coast.”

Inaugurating the expo, Udupi SP Nisha James said, “Painting helps to overcome stress in life. There is a need to promote art and artists.”

A demonstration of painting was held on October 20, Sunday. The exhibition will continue.
