Pa Go Award conferred on Mohammad Arif Padubidri

Mangalore, Jun 1, 2013: The Padyana Gopalakrishna (Pa Go) Award for excellent rural reporting was presented to Mohammad Arif Padubidri, Chief Reporter of Vijaya Karnataka daily at the Press Club on June 1, Saturday.  The award  instituted by the Padyana Gopalkrishna Bhat Memorial Trust, was presented to Arif by senior journalist Chidambar Baikampady.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs 5001  sponsored by Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, a memento, citation and a shawl.Arif  was chosen for the Award for his report ‘Napkin Ghatakada ‘Yashoda’Gathe’ published in the June 12, 2012 issue of Vijaya Karnataka.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, Chidambar Baikampady  said  the name of Padyana Gopalakrishna  in whose memory the Award is given, should be mentioned in full  instead of  merely Pa Go, so that the present generation gets a chance to know  about the  veteran journalist.

Recalling his association with Pa Go, Chidambar said he learnt a lot  from the senior while staying in his home. He also called upon the present day reporters to know about the senior writers and learn from their works.

 Mohammad Arif who also spoke, expressed his joy over winning the Award and thanked his journalist friends.

P B Harish Rai, President of DKWJU welcomed the gathering and the guests. Srinivas Indaje, Secretary of the DKWJU, proposed the vote of thanks.

Pa Go’s wife Savithri Rao and several others were present.
