One killed, several injured in bus-jeep head-on collision in Karkala Padubidri Highway

Karkala, Dec 10, 2023: A collision took place between a private bus and a Jeep on the Karkala Padubidri Highway near Nitte, claimed the life of one individual and left two others seriously injured on the evening of Sunday, December 10.

The impact resulted in the immediate death of Shivappa (48), a resident of Jayapura in Chikmagalur district. Two other individuals, identified as Manju (45) and Sujaya (28), sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Manipal Hospital in critical condition for medical intervention.

The victims were part of a family from Jayapura in Chikkamagaluru district, who had traveled to Nandalike from Jayapura for a family event at their residence in Nandalike, Karkala taluk.

Emergency services rushed the injured to Manipal Hospital for urgent medical care. Meanwhile, 12 passengers from the bus were taken to Karkala hospital for further treatment.

Local police, arrived at the accident scene to conduct an initial investigation.
