One fisherman feared drowned near Sasihitlu beach

Mangaluru, August 27, 2017: A fisherman, Tarun (27), on board a countryboat, is feared drowned after the boat capsized in sea near Sasihitlu beach on Sunday morning.

According to the police, Eight fishermen, including Tarun, left for fishing from Hejmady fishing harbour on Sunday. The boat belonged to Mohan Das.

The police said that as they were returning with fish, the boat capsized because of rough sea. While seven fishermen swam towards the Sasihitlu beach, the search was on for Tarun.

Deputy Director of Fishing Mahesh Kumar said that a meeting was called with fishermen a few days ago and they were warned against venturing into the sea, as the sea was rough following rain.
