Mangaluru, Feb 21, 2020: MSNM Besant Institute of Post Graduate Studies hosted a full day conference on ‘Start-ups in India – Challenges, Issues and Opportunities’ in association with Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Thursday, 20th February 2020 at Nethravathi Auditorium at MSNM Besant campus at Bondel, Mangalore.

Dr. V. Ravindrachary, Registrar (Evaluation), Mangalore University inaugurated the conference. Sri Vittaldas Leeladhar, Former Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India gave the key note address. There were 72 participants in the workshop comprising faculty members and students from institutes in and around Mangalore.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. V. Ravindrachary observed: “Students have potential but they lack confidence. Government has taken right step to promote start-ups to provide opportunities to talented individuals. Institutions should identify and support talented individuals to build confidence and create a progressive society. This conference has provided the platform for the knowledge sharing.”

Delivering the keynote address, Mr. V. Leeladhar said: “Large start-ups which have been incurring immense losses have been focusing on valuation and expansion rather than minimizing the losses.  There is huge potential of native start-ups where entrepreneurs focus on the local geographical area.”

The objective of the conference was to provide a platform for Academicians, Research Scholars, Students and Business Professionals to share their knowledge, ideas and findings on Start-ups.
 
Mr. Bobby Pauly, Partner, Tata Opportunities Fund at Tata Capital Private Equity, Dr. Madanmohan Rao, Research Director, YourStory Media, Bangalore and Mr. Gaurang Shetty Chief Innovation Catalyst at Riidl were the key speakers of the conference.
Ms. Tanuja Maben, Founder, Forrader Academy, Mr. Prajwal M., Community Manager, IKP Knowledge and Ms. Prachetha Shetty, COO & Director, Thacher Farmtech Pvt. Ltd., were the speakers in the panel discussion.

President of Women’s National Education Society Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy, Vice President Manel Annappa Nayak, Secretary Devananda Pai and members Nagar Narayan Shenoy and Raghav Kamath were present.

Conference Chairperson and Institute Director Dr. Molly S. Chaudhuri welcomed the gathering. Prof. Usha Mogra gave a vote of thanks. Mrs. Nanditha P.M., Assistant Professor was the compere of the programme.
